Mantra & Kirtan Workshop
The FIRST SUNDAY of the month, 6-7 pm, at The Ideal Method
Come to a community chanting session! This is a free class to all, donations are gratefully accepted but not expected. All donations go to support the studio’s promotion of Bhakti Yoga!
No experience is necessary. You will be taught the sound formulas. No need for a “good” singing voice either; mantras can be done silently while the ears are used to soak up the sounds or they can also be spoken or hummed. This gathering is intended to be a “user-friendly,” casual experience rather than a musical performance. Everyone and anyone is encouraged and welcome to lead the chant.
Sacred chanting of the ancient Sanskrit language of India creates vibrations that resonate at the cellular level, affecting the body mentally, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. Mantras are a powerful and easy way to meditate and promotes a calm, peaceful, quiet and focused mind. Chanting and singing helps us control the breath thus controlling the thoughts.

Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity is to “do the same thing expecting a different outcome.” Osho said that “only when you express your madness, you stay sane.”
Osho’s meditations are based on the understanding that in order to be silent, the Western mind first needs to get rid of tension and stress. In order to be still, you must first be dynamically active to release pent up emotions. To be truly quiet, it is necessary to first get rid of the inner noise.
The 13 stages (see below) of this highly active and interactive mediation will take you on a roller coaster ride into yourself and beyond. You will move from one extreme to another through a variety of emotional expressions and bio-energetic exercises. In this process, you will truly be able to let go and and observe what is going on behind the unconscious reactions. This awareness will help you to understand what is holding you back and will open old wounds in order for them to be fully healed. Rather than telling you in words how to handle your feelings, these powerfully expressive meditations guide you step by step to experience your emotions in a safe way, in a sacred space, with the support of others. This creates a group consciousness. By this unique approach to meditation, your co-mediators will assist you and act as mirrors in which you will be able to see yourself more clearly. The experience is designed to help you to deepen existing friendships with yourself and others.
This 4 hour workshop will be divided into two 2-hour sessions (approximately 6-7 stages each) with a short break in the middle with light refreshments provided. The remainder of the allotted time will go towards sharing and integrating the experience.

This multi-modality excursion will create within you a sense of perfect peace, harmony and balance. It is a rejuvenating way to shake out the winter blues and begin the Spring season feeling refreshed and restored! Experience the joy and bliss in your heart that is manifested when you deeply relax and treat yourself with loving kindness.
Denys will offer instruction, lead a practice, and provide healing experiences throughout the workshop in several of the most effective and respected healing arts traditions. During this workshop, you will learn about and practice:
- Meditation techniques (dhyana)
- Breath exercises (pranayamas)
- Biofeedback (mudras)
You will also experience/receive:
- Sound therapy (with the calming vibrations from Tibetan singing bowls, cymbals, and chimes)
- Sense stimulation from the therapeutic use of aromatherapy oils
- Chakra balancing with the use of crystals and gems
- Reiki and Polarity energy work
- Individual, hands-on massage therapy in some of the following modalities: Shiatsu, Reflexology & Deep Tissue Massage
- Shavasana and Yoga Nidra
You will enjoy the entire afternoon in total tranquility and take away with you a deep sense of healing in the mind, body, and soul that will help you manage the stress from whatever life may throw at you.
Each participant will receive approximately 30 minutes total of hands-on healing. The last 1/2 hour of the workshop will allow for questions and answers as well as consultations on individual feedback.
